Case Converter: Change Text Case Online
Paste a block of text into this case converter and switch it to uppercase, lowercase, title case or any of eight styles with one click. Counters for characters, words, sentences and lines update live as you type or convert, and the finished text can be copied or saved as a TXT file.
What Is a Case Converter?
A case converter changes the capitalization of your text without making you retype it. This one gives you a single text box and eight one-click styles: sentence case, lower case, UPPER CASE, Capitalized Case, aLtErNaTiNg cAsE, Title Case, InVeRsE CaSe and URL slug. It handles everything from a caps-lock accident to a headline that needs a matching web address.
Key Features
- Eight case styles: one box covers body text, headlines and web addresses, so you don't hop between tools.
- Live counters: characters, words, sentences and lines update as you work, which helps when you're writing to a length limit.
- Copy to Clipboard: move the result into your editor or CMS in one click.
- Download Text: save the result as a TXT file named convert-case.txt to keep or share.
- Clear button: empties the box and resets every counter before your next job.
- Click confirmation: the style button you press briefly turns green, so you know the conversion ran.
- Multi-language URL slug: letters and numbers from other languages are kept instead of being stripped out.
How the Case Converter Works
The conversion runs in your browser, on the page itself, so there is no upload step.
- When you click a style, the page reads whatever is in the text box at that moment.
- A short script applies that style's rule to the whole text.
- The result replaces the text in the box, and the four counters recalculate.
- Copy to Clipboard and Download Text use the current contents of the box.
What Each Style Does
- Sentence case: lowercases everything, then capitalizes the first letter of the text and of each sentence after a period, question mark or exclamation mark. hELLO there. HOW are you? → Hello there. How are you?
- lower case and UPPER CASE: turn every letter down or up.
- Capitalized Case: makes the first letter of every word uppercase and the rest lowercase. the quick brown fox → The Quick Brown Fox
- Title Case: works like Capitalized Case, except small words (a, an, and, as, at, but, by, for, if, in, nor, of, on, or, so, the, to, up, yet) stay lowercase unless they come first or last. the lord of the rings → The Lord of the Rings
- aLtErNaTiNg cAsE: flips between lower and upper on every character, spaces included. hello world → hElLo wOrLd
- InVeRsE CaSe: swaps each letter's case. Hello World → hELLO wORLD
- URL Slug: lowercases the text, drops apostrophes, turns each run of other characters into a single hyphen and trims hyphens from both ends. 10 Best Tips: Today's Edition! → 10-best-tips-todays-edition
Why Use This Tool
- Fix a caps-lock slip in seconds. Paste the shouting paragraph, click Sentence case, and skip the retyping.
- Keep naming consistent. Run headings, product names and menu labels through the same style so they match across pages.
- Go from headline to permalink. Format the headline in Title Case and copy it, then click URL Slug to get the matching web-address text.
- Work with text from anywhere. Anything you can paste, whether from a document, an email or a spreadsheet, can be converted.
How to Use the Case Converter
- Type or paste your text into the Input Text box.
- Look at the character, word, sentence and line counts below the box.
- Click Sentence case, lower case, UPPER CASE, Capitalized Case, aLtErNaTiNg cAsE, Title Case, InVeRsE CaSe or URL Slug.
- Click another style if the result isn't right. Each click converts the text currently in the box.
- Click Copy to Clipboard, or Download Text to save a TXT file.
- Click Clear to empty the box and start a new job.
Conversions replace the text in the box and there is no undo button, so keep a copy of the original if you may need it again.
Common Use Cases
Rescuing caps-lock text. Someone types a whole email with caps lock on. Paste it, click Sentence case, then skim for names that need a capital letter back, because the tool lowercases everything first.
Publishing a blog post. Paste the headline and click Title Case, then copy it into your CMS. Click URL Slug on the same text afterward to get a clean, hyphenated permalink.
Cleaning a list. Paste a column of product names or labels from a spreadsheet and click Capitalized Case or lower case so every entry matches. The line counter confirms every row made it in, and Download Text saves the cleaned list.
